Solid Waste
The Town of Amherst has embarked on a new Solid Waste Management Strategy to conform with regulations of the Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour.
Public collection by a Town Managed Contractor, PBS waste services, is provided to all residential properties with 3 or fewer dwelling units. All generators have to separate solid waste into four streams:

Every residence with 3 or fewer dwelling units has been supplied with a green 2 wheeled compost container and a small kitchen catcher for organic waste.
